What is a Content Management System?
What is a content management system? Put in simple terms, it is an interface that allows the user to publish content directly to the Web. The process of adding content pages directly to the Web is one step ahead of creating and uploading pages from a local machine because it allows a large number of people to add and share the data remotely.
In more detailed terms, a content management system provides a simple accessible website interface that can be used as a way to add content to one of your pages within a highly structured manner. Generally, access to a CMS is defined for a specific set of users to have access to view, add, edit, and publish the new content on the CMS.
A content management system typically has two major components:
- A content management application – the front end user interface that allows the user to add, modify, and remove content from your website without approval from the webmaster.
- A content delivery application – Information and updates that have happened to the website.
