Which Search Engines Are The Best

5 Most Popular Search Engines (As Of November 2018)

Google

This one is self explanatory. Google is clearly the best search engine available. Therefore it has solidified itself as the top spot on this list. Also, it should be at the top of everyones list. According to netmarketshare in January 2018, Google controls 74.52% of search engine searches. As a result, it controls 66% more than second place (Bing 7.89%). However, for tablet/mobile searches the results are much more in Google’s favor as the control a massive 93%. Google is the clear winner here.

Bing

As stated earlier, Bing controls the second most searches through their search engine. Bing was Microsoft’s failed attempt at challenging Google in the area of search. However, they were unable to convince users that they are able to produce better search results than Google. it was launched in 2009 and is the default search engine in Microsoft’s browser.  Their version of Google Maps, “Places”, is a great platform for businesses to submit their details to optimize their search results.

Yahoo

Most users do not know that Yahoo search has been powered by by Bing since October 2011.However, it is still one of the most popular email providers out there. At this point, Yahoo is in competition with Bing rather than challenge Google. However, their email provider has been declining ever since they acknowledged that their User Details and Passwords were hacked.

Ask.com

Previously known as Ask Jeeves, it was founded in 1995. This search engine only receives approximately .05% of searches. This search engine is based on a question based search system where most of them are answered by other users in poll format. It can also function as a normal search engine, however, it greatly lacks the quality compared to Google, Bing and Yahoo.

AOL.com

According to netmarketshare, the once famous AOL still manages to control a top five search engine ranking with a market share of about .04%. This network includes many popular websites such as engadget.com, techcrunch.com, and the huffingtonpost.com. Also, AOL was bought by Verizon for $4.4 billion.
